摘要:The high-noise level at low frequency in magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) sensors is the key problem for their applications in measuring the low values of static magnetic field. In this paper, we investigated a shielding-type flux chopper to resolve the 1/f noise issue. By the using a cylindrical chopper with its axis perpendicular to the sensing direction of MTJ sensor, the noise at 1 Hz was reduced from 4 to 0.3 nT/rtHz by chopping the magnetic flux at 5 kHz. The reduction in noise can be qualitatively explained by the 1/f behavior and the chopping efficiency. The proposed method is promising in enhancing the detectivity of MTJ sensor for sensing the static geomagnetic field.

摘要:Three dimensional magnetic sensors play important roles for multiple applications, e g position sensing, automotive application, and geomagnetic navigation. In recent decades, many groups developed various kinds of vector magnetometer, including Hall effect, the anisotro-pic magnetoresistance (AMR) effect, giant magnetoresistance (GMR) sensors, and tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) magnetometer. For all the designs, the inaccuracy in alignment of sensors or flux-guide leads to non-orthogonality between each sensing directions Another issue on three-axis magnetometer is to achieve a low-noise without increasing the size too much. In order to deal with this issues, several extrinsic methods have been reported, e g TMR arrays, flux concentrator, and flux-chopping techniques. Interestingly, the 1/f noise can be reduced by a factor of 12 with a shielding type magnetic flux chopper, which was realized successfully in the ref. In this work, we design and manufacture a low-noise vector magnetometer comprising three TMR sensors orthogonally aligned and placed in the central of a shielding flux chopper The non-orthogonality issue can be solved by the calibration process using a voltage-to-field transfer matrix.
